Tara Riley After 19 years of dancing lessons growing up, and years of competitive dance, Tara knew she had found her calling when she discovered Pilates and yoga. At the suggestion of her sister, Tara joined a Pilates studio in Charlotte and was certified. Then her head got lost in the clouds, literally. She found a new art form that tested the limits of her strength and flexibility. She found aerial arts, and began teaching it the following year.
Joan Poteat. After losing the love of my life, a childhood friend introduced me to yoga. The more I practiced the more I began to find myself again. This brought out a strong desire to share this awesome discovery by teaching yoga.
My practice began with Pranakriya/Kripalu, followed by Ashtanga for my 200hr teacher certification. I strive to teach a fun class blending these traditions together. Giggles are always welcome!
SJ Jones. I live a very fast paced life! The Gemini in me usually leads to my having my hands in more fires than one at a time! I am the Business Manager and heavily involved in Event Planning for a very intense lifestyle company known as Heights Entertainment. Yoga is where I find Peace and Solice at the end of the day! Or as I like to say, Yoga is the Yin to my Yang. After a 10 year love affair with Yoga, I decided that I wanted to share my love for this art form with those around me. This led to my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification and becoming a Yoga Alliance Certified Instructor.
Growing up in a family where sports played a large role in my day to day life, and now having a brother who plays Professional Basketball overseas, I decided that Athletes would be my primary, not only focus. Not only is Yoga a total body workout it also helps prevent injury while increasing recovery time, concentration, discipline, focus, calmness and clarity. These are all things that are extremely important when participating in a professional sport as well as a fast paced life. It is my goal to assist you in taking your game on the court as well as in life to the next level through the practice that is known as Yoga.
May Jorge was a runner all her life until she injured her knee. Luckily, while looking for low impact options, she found yoga. Initially, her purpose for practicing yoga was purely for the amazing physical benefits but soon she discovered that her practice was not just healing her body, but also healing her soul. This propelled her to want to share what she had discovered with as many people as possible. Her teaching style is described as “electric” by her renowned teacher, Lizzy Hoffman. She is very passionate about helping others and specializes in tailoring classes for specific needs. In her spare time she teaches music and takes her dog Bailey on adventures.
Gayle Tarrart is a Reiki practitioner and recent graduate of the Urban Bliss 200 hour YTT program. Gayle has practiced yoga for over 15 years and is very excited to have the opportunity to share her knowledge and guide students through the benefits yoga provides both physically and mentally.
Reiki, Qigong and Meditation. Alixa is founder and CEG for Energy Equinox, has over 15 years experience working with corporate America and a lifetime of experience working with qi. Her passion is teaching personal energy improvement techniques like qigong, meditation, Reiki, and tai chi to help people achieve optimal health.
In 1998, Alixa achieved a coaching certification in Radical Forgiveness and began practicing regular qigong meditation. By 2010, Alixa completed her qigong instructor certification, was certified in Reiki to the Shinpiden-level (Reiki Master), and opened Energy Equinox.
Today, Alixa works as a business owner and energy improvement instructor/facilitator/mentor to people throughout the southeast. She affirms the blessings of universal abundance and encourages cooperation over competition. She believes that by working together to help each other grow, we help ourselves grow.
